Custom Wiring Diagram

Description

Building an off-grid system can get confusing pretty quickly... different batteries, different chargers, different brands, different rules. And every setup is a bit different. That’s where this service comes in.

With this Custom Wiring Diagram Service, you get a wiring diagram built specifically for your setup... your components, your layout, and the way you actually use your caravan, canopy, tiny house, boat, or bus. No guesswork, no dodgy Facebook advice, no hoping for the best... just a clear, safe, AS/NZS 3001 aligned plan drawn by a sparky who lives off-grid and builds these systems all the time.

You give me your gear list and goals... I map out the whole system so you know exactly what connects to what, what size cables and fuses you need, and the right way to wire it all together.

Key Features
  • Custom to Your Setup... Designed around your exact components, layout, and how you want to use your system.
  • Cable and Fuse Sizing Included... Recommended cable sizes, fuse ratings, and breaker specs to suit your design.
  • AS/NZS 3001 Aligned Layout... Built using Australian wiring rules principles to support a safer, tidier install.
  • Made by a Real Off-Grid Sparky... Drawn by Landon from Zero Grid... a licensed electrician who actually lives off-grid.
What’s Included
  • Full custom wiring diagram in PDF format (suitable for printing or sharing with your electrician).
  • Clear layout showing batteries, inverter/charger, DC-DC, solar chargers, shunt, BMS, DC distribution, and AC input/output.
  • Recommended cable sizes, fuse sizes, and breaker ratings for key parts of the system.
  • Notes on protection, isolation, and general safety considerations based on AS/NZS 3001 principles.
  • One round of adjustments if your plan changes slightly after the first draft.
  • Email support from me (Landon) to clarify anything you’re unsure about in the diagram.
Who This Service Is For
  • DIY caravan, motorhome, bus, or 4WD canopy builds.
  • Off-grid tiny houses, sheds, cabins, and small homes.
  • Boats and houseboats needing a tidy 12V or 48V system layout.
  • Sparkies who want a clear, system-specific diagram to install from.
  • Anyone wanting to avoid expensive rewiring or unsafe setups.
How It Works
  1. Purchase this service through the website.
  2. After checkout you’ll receive a link or email with a short form to fill out with your gear list, photos (if you have them), and what you want the system to do.
  3. I review your info... and if anything is unclear, I’ll get in touch to confirm details.
  4. I draw your custom diagram based on your components and goals.
  5. You receive your wiring diagram as a PDF via email... ready to use on the tools or share with your electrician.

Typical turnaround is around 5–10 business days depending on workload.

Important Notes
  • This service is for system design and guidance. All final installation and connection of 240V circuits must be carried out and signed off by a licensed electrician.
  • Diagrams are prepared using AS/NZS 3001 principles... however local regulations and inspector requirements can vary. Your electrician has the final say on any changes needed on site.
Delivery

This is a digital service. Your custom wiring diagram will be delivered via email as a PDF. No physical items are shipped.

If you haven’t received anything within 10 business days, please check your spam folder and then get in touch.

Warranty & Support

I stand behind the advice I give... if you or your electrician have questions about the diagram, you can reply to the email or contact us here and I’ll do my best to help.

Because this is a custom digital service, refunds are generally not available once work has started... but if there’s an issue, reach out and we’ll work through it.

FAQ's

Q: What info do you need from me?
A: At minimum I’ll need a list of your main components (batteries, inverter, chargers, solar, DC-DC, etc), whether it’s a caravan, canopy, tiny house, boat, or bus... and roughly what you want to run. Photos of your space or existing setup are a bonus and can help me design a cleaner layout.

Q: Can you help me choose the right gear as well?
A: Yes... if you’re still in planning mode, I recommend booking a 1-on-1 system design call as well. On that call we’ll work out what you actually need, then I’ll follow up with a custom diagram based on the final gear list.

Q: Is the diagram enough for my electrician to work from?
A: In most cases... yes. The diagram gives your sparky a clear overview of how the system should be wired, what sizes and protections are needed, and how the AC and DC sides tie together. They may still tweak things based on site conditions or local rules... but this gives them a solid starting point.

Q: Will this make my system “certified”?
A: No... the certification comes from your licensed electrician and/or inspector. The diagram is a design tool that supports a compliant install when followed and combined with good workmanship and local regulations.

Q: Can you update the diagram later if I upgrade my system?
A: Small tweaks are covered in the included revision... if you do a major upgrade later (like changing inverter size, voltage, or adding a whole new section), we can sort out a follow-up diagram at a reduced cost.
